The world-wide visual culture industry
from Calvin Tomkins Lives of the Artists:

And what are my thoughts exactly?
That Tomkins is on to something.
That you probably think it’s Gaga standing next to Alexander McQueen in the picture above when really it isBjork.
That it’s sad when these things happen.
That Damien Hirst might just suspect that celebrity is a death mask.
